Back to School Clothes Swap Meet
Here's a great way to save money on back to school clothes: take your kids' old duds to the swap meet, and pick up what you need in exchange. They don't have to be school clothes, but can be anything. Just be sure the clothes are wearable, not stained, do not have holes, and have been washed. For information, contact Patricia Baca, 974-0740.
When: Saturday, July 31, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Where: Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas NE (between Eubank and Juan Tabo), in the parking lot.
Cost: Free.

Albuquerque Chicken Coop and Garden Tour
Learn about chickens, find out how gardeners grow fruits and vegetables under a variety of conditions, from limited space gardens to larger backyard farms. This self-guided tour will take you through backyard gardens, community gardens, school gardens and more. The citywide event has maps available online. Walking and biking maps, different ones for each day, are available only on individual tour days, and can be picked up at the La Montanita Co-op in Nob Hill or at The Source, 1111 Carlisle SE.
When: Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: See map information above for this citywide event.
Cost: Free.

See Turner to Cezanne Show and Attend Turner Lecture
The Turner to Cezanne exhibit ends next Sunday, August 8. If you haven't been to this exceptional show yet, you might want to go this weekend rather than the last day, and beat the crowds. An added incentive is a Turner lecture by Gillian Forrester, Curator at the Yale Center for British Art. Forrester has written extensively on Turner and was a Turner Scholar at the Tate Gallery. Sunday admission for residents is waived, so save on costs.
When: Sunday, August 1, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Turner lecture 1 p.m.
Where: Albuquerque Museum, 2000 Mountain Road NW
Cost: $5 for admission to the special Turner show; Sunday admission free from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
