Albuquerque will celebrate its birthday this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in Old Town. The annual Founders Day Fiesta will celebrate in five areas of Old Town that have been designated to represent the five eras of New Mexico's history.
The celebrations will include the annual parade, Native dances, a Chautauqua presentation on Billy the Kid, Folklorico dancers, gunslingers and more. A children's area will be set up in Plaza Don Luis, where they can enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, and the fun acrobatics and juggling of Clan Tynker.
Old Town's center will be closed to traffic. Parking will be available at city and private lots in the area. The bus stops at Central and Rio Grande, and festival goers are encouraged to use the bus as parking is limited.
The Founders Day event is free.
