Albuquerque has a wide variety of museums with collections of art, space, science and more. Many of the museums offer special programs for children. The following museums also offer summer camp programs for kids so they can be entertained and educated when school is not in session. Apply early, as programs fill up fast.

BioPark Camps
Preschool - Grade 9. June 2 - July 25. Kids can learn about the animals at the zoo, discover the ocean and river through the Aquarium, or delve into butterflies and plants at the Botanic Garden. Kids can take camps at Tingley Beach, too. Older kids can learn about careers in zoology, botany, biology and more.

Explora
Ages 5 - 15. June 2 - August 1. Science is fun, especially when discovering how it works at Explora. Kids can learn about art, technology and science in camps focused on areas such as design, chemistry, engineering, physics, bugs, biology, ecology and more. Explora now has day camps for weeks just after the school year ends and before school begins. (505) 224-8323

Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
Ages 6 - 12. June 2 - 27. Kids learn about Pueblo culture, history, art, music, agriculture and cooking at the Pueblo House, located on the museum grounds. Learn the traditional Pueblo method of farming, and end the week with a feast that includes horno bread.

Maxwell Museum of Anthropology Summer Camp
Ages 8 - 12. June 9-12 or July 14-17. Kids can sign up for one day or the entire week. Topics include human origins, world music, Native American traditions, global cultures and archaeology adventures. Create projects, visit the museum and more.

National Hispanic Cultural Center
July 7 - 25. The National Hispanic Center partners with the Instituto Cervantes to bring kids an intensive Spanish language program. Children participate in art, theater, music, cooking and dance while learning Spanish conversational skills. (505) 724-4777.

National Museum of Nuclear Science and History
Ages 6 - 13. May 27 - August 8. The week long Science is Everywhere camps delve into fashion, color, grossology, robotics, rockets and much, much more. Find out more.

New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science
K-Grade 6. June 2 - August 8. The Natural History Museum offers half day programs for younger children, and full day programs for older campers. Kids learn about dinosaurs, fossils and the natural world with crafts, science projects, field trips and more. Some of the camps for older children have an overnight component.

Rio Grande Nature Center
For children entering grades 1 - 6. June 2 - July 3. The Rio Grande Nature Center offers hands-on exploratory camps on bats, birds, reptiles, insects and more, based on the science of the Rio Grande Bosque.
