Flag Placement at 9/11 Memorial
A flag will be placed at the Vista Verde 9/11 Memorial at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, in honor of those who lost their lives September 11, 2001.
3rd Annual 9/11 Memorial Bike Run
The annual motorcycle run begins at noon with lunch at Daniels Funeral Service, 1100 Coal SE in Albuquerque. The bikes will drive to Twin Towers Memorial in Vista Verde Park and then continue to New Beginnings Church for food, music and more. The run takes place Saturday, September 7. Socorro riders will begin at 10 a.m. at Daniels in Socorro.
Public Servants and Chaplains Barbeque
Prior to the annual Memorial Service at Vista Verde Memorial Park, there will be a barbeque for public servants and chaplains, from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. on September 11.
9/11 Stair Climb
A group of Albuquerque firefighters will climb 110 stories, the same height as the Twin Towers. The firefighters will be wearing their full gear as they make the climb, in honor of the 343 firefighters who died as first responders on 9/11. The climb takes place on September 11 every year.
Vista Verde Park 9-11 Memorial
Visit Vista Verde Park in Rio Rancho where a bronze replica of the Twin Towers resides. A plaque commemorates the lives lost in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Somerset County, PA. "We look to the future knowing we can never forget the past." Vista Verde is located at 4310 Sara Road SE.
Remembrance to Those Who Have Fallen
The New Mexico Veterans Memorial will be open for those who wish to pay tribute to the many who lost their lives on September 11.
