The Poe event kicks off the Big Read in Albuquerque. Coinciding with the anniversary of Poe's death, Lou Harmon will perform as the macabre author. The performance includes dramatic readings, historical biography and audience interaction. For middle school and up.

Heritage Farm Harvest Festival
The Rio Grande Botanic Garden's Heritage Farm recreates what life was like on the farm in Albuquerque many years ago. The barn opens up for cider pressing on site, and if you've never had fresh cider, here's your chance. The Farm's kitchen garden, orchard, vineyard and house come alive with games, arts and crafts, demonstrations and interpretive activities. Enjoy live music with the Green Billies and Squash Blossom Boys on Saturday, or Sage Harrington, the Eastside Ramblers and the Albuquerque Boys Choir on Sunday.

Just east of Albuquerque, Moriarty grows lots and lots of pinto beans. We couldn't have New Mexican cuisine without them! Join the festivities to celebrate this small culinary wonder, where there will be food, arts and crafts, fun jumpers, sack races, games for the kids, vintage tractors, corn, pumpkins, honey, and a fresh crop of pinto beans at the Farmer's Market. Live entertainment will be on hand.
