Egg Hunts, Parades, and Pictures with the Easter Bunny

Looking for a place to hang your basket? Here are some details on some fun community events for you to enjoy during the Easter season. Celebrate with a delicious Easter brunch, take the kids out on an egg hunt, or hop out for some baseball fun.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Brunch
Find a special place to enjoy Easter brunch at a family friendly event. Brunch options range from casual to elegant. Many place, younger kids eat free.

Eggs N' Beggin Dog Parade and Costume Contest
Pooches and their owners will hit the park dressed in Easter themed gear. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the costume contest takes place after the parade. Winners in each category get a prize. Categories include "Best Pet/Owner Look Alike", "Best Little Dog", and "Best Big Dog".
Where: Cabezon Park, Rio Rancho
When: 10 a.m., Saturday, April 12
Cost: Free parade; costume contest $5 per dog entry.

Caring Bunny
The New Mexico Autism Society and REO Photography will have a special photo opportunity with the Easter bunny for kids with autism.
Where: Jumpstart Autism Center, 8500 Washington NE, A-1
When: April 12, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Easter Eggstravaganza
There will be an egg hunt, jump house, crafts, treats and more. It's all free.
Where: Heights Cumberland Church, 8600 Academy NE
When: April 12, 1 p.m.

Easter Eggstravagana
The Easter fun includes an egg decorating station, interactive booths on the miniature gold course, visits with the Easter bunny and a hunt for Easter eggs and candy. The Eggstravaganza is free.
Where: Hinkle Family Fun Center, 12391 Indian School NE, on the Mini Golf Course.
When: Saturday, April 19, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Easter Enrichment at the Zoo
Zoo animals will get special papier-mache toys, egg shaped cereal bars, treats and hard boiled eggs. Come see the primates, hoofstock, carnivores and elephants get their Easter treats.
Where: Rio Grande Zoo, 903 10th Street SW
When: April 20, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Cost: Free with regular admission.

Pictures with the Easter Bunny
Visit with the bunny or get your child's photo taken.
When: April 4 - 12
What: Get your photo with the Easter Bunny while looking for that special Easter outfit.
Where: Cottonwood Mall

Kidgits Easter Eggstravaganza
Kids can enjoy giveaways, prizes, and arts and crafts at Cottonwood Mall. The Easter Bunny will visit, too.
When: April 12

Caring Bunny
Kids with special needs and their families can have a private photo experience with the Easter Bunny.
When: April 13, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Easter Egg Hunts

 

Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter bunny will have an egg hunt for children 0-12, with hunts broken out according to age groups.
Where: Los Padillas Community Center, South Valley
When: April 9, 3:30 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter bunny will have an egg hunt and a picnic. Prizes for the golden eggs!
Where: Westside Community Center, 1250 Isleta Blvd.
When: April 12, noon to 2 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt
A community egg hunt begins at noon, hot dogs will be at 11 a.m. and kite flying at 1 p.m. Prizes, food and fun for the whole family. Egg hunt is for children ages 1-12.

When: April 12, 11 a.m.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter bunny will have an egg hunt for children 3-12. Bring your camera, because the Easter bunny will be available for pictures.
Where: Vista Grande Community Center, Sandia Park
When: April 12, 2 p.m.

Los Lunas Easter Egg Hunt
There will be vendor booths, face painting, jumpers and a bust a move competition. Join in the free egg hunt.

When: April 16, 3 p.m.

Mama's Minerals Easter Egg Hunt
Kids will find eggs filled with tumbled stones, beads, fossils and minerals. Kids can bring their own baskets for collecting. Meet the Easter Bunny. A ticket is required, cost is $3 per child. RSVP; space limited. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Two sessions, beginning at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt
Old Windmill Dairy had its first Easter Egg hunt in 2012, and it was such a hit, they've continued it every year. Have the kids hunt for eggs and then have some artisan cheese. Visit the baby goats.
