Sumner & Dene Gallery has invited its artists to create work with the theme of hearts, romance or flowers. The Valentine artists are Angus Macpherson, Dan Garrett, Ruth Morris, plus jewelers Teresa Archibuque, Jana Lee Aspin, Dawn Estrin, Annie Onderdonk and Cheryl Thorpe. Show reception is February 7 from 5 - 9 p.m.

Velo-tine Bike Tours
Join a professionally-guided tour along the Paseo del Bosque river trail. Routes, Rentals and Tours will give you a bike to tour the scenic bisque. Arrive at Casa Rodena for a wine tasting, NM Tea Company for tea, Los Poblanos Historic Inn and organic farm for a tour, and Joliesse Chocolates for chocolate. The ride takes 3.5 hours.

Wine Tasting: Malbec Wines
The Slate Street Cafe will have a Malbec wine tasting in its Wine Loft, featuring three generous pours of wine with an appetizer just for the occasion.

Adults Only Valentine's Day Tours
Ever wonder how animals select their mates? Find out with special tours about the exotic, erotic and often curious romantic rituals of animals. Choose from three tours: "Birds and the Beasts" at the Zoo at 10 a.m., "Love Bugs" at the Botanic Garden at 3:30 p.m. and "That's a Moray!" at the Aquarium at 2 p.m.. Ages 18 and up only.

New Mexico Philharmonic: Gershwin & Company
Pianist Logan Skelton will perform Rhapsody in Blue. The New Mexico Philharmonic will also perform An American in Paris and selections from Porgy and Bess. Other selections include Duke Ellington and Leroy Anderson.

Cupid's Chase 5K Run
The Cupid's Chase run is a national 5K event that takes place in 24 cities, on the same day, at the same time. Proceeds benefit Community Options, which provides supports to people with disabilites. There will be giveaways and prizes, and of course, the chance to see balloons! Walkers are welcome.
When: February 8, registration begins 8 a.m., race begins 10 a.m.

Friends and Lovers Hot Air Balloon Rally
The first Valentine balloon event in Albuquerque was in 1976. This popular launch features up to 100 hot air balloons rising into the sky for two mornings over Valentine's Day weekend. Access to the park is from the northeast corner of Balloon Park. Free to watch/attend.

This family favorite takes place at the Bosque School along the river. It's a flat and fast course, with a variety of run choices, from Kids' K to Sweetheart Couples teams.

Valentine's Day Paint & Sip Evening
Kelly Jo of Design by Wine will lead you through the process of making your own painting. Drink your favorite Gruet, socialize and have fun. Class includes a glass of wine, snacks, instruction and materials to make your work of art. Call (505) 821-0055 to register.

Latin Love Fest
Have dinner out with your valentine and then enjoy dessert and dancing, salsa style, at the Latin Love Fest. Ivon Ulibarri and Cafe Moche and Calle 66 will perform live. See dance performances, and mingle in the Valentine fun. There will be chocolate fountains, desserts, drink and a cash bars as well as an enormous dance floor. The doors open at 8 p.m., the free sensual dance lesson begins at 8:30 p.m. and dance performances and competitions begin at 9:30 p.m. Couples can compete for gifts and prizes. This is an 18+ event. That's A Moray Late Night Tour
Take a romantic escape under the sea at the Aquarium. Dine in the Shark Reef Cafe, then learn about the amorous animals in the aquarium. There will be a marine movie marathon, games and more. Pre-registration is required.

Dance Performance: Contra-Tiempo
The multilingual Los Angeles dance company brings together a variety of dance styles for a unique experience. Their work is rooted in hip-hop, salsa and Afro-Cuban dance.

A Wild West Valentine Night
Stroll through time with your valentine at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. Tour the museum's exhibits and see a romantic planetarium show, Star Crossed Love. Then dance the night way to live music by the Tumbleweeds. Dress in western costume because there's a contest and you could win a prize. Cash bar for those over 21. The evening is for those 18 years and older. Enjoy food from Conchita's Creations food truck and cupcakes by Cake Fetish. The observatory will be open, weather permitting.

The annual showcase brings together burlesque performers such as Ray Gunn and Shannon Doah. The style is classic 40s and 50s and is full of song, dance, and a bit of naughty fun. For those 18 and older.

50 Shades! The Musical
A huge hit in Chicago and New York, the laugh out loud musical opens with a ladies book club deciding to read Fifty Shades of Grey. The show has dance numbers and original songs.
