The Halloween festival in Old Town has always featured candy giveaways and fun activities. The event brings together lots of old fashioned fun with trick or treating, a costumed pet parade, a costume contest, hay rides and other activities for the kids. If you're looking for a safe Halloween event for your trick or treaters, this event is a good bet.

The fall festival takes place on Saturday, October 29, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Old Town. There will be hay rides around the plaza, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, fall arts and crafts, a pet parade and more. At 8 p.m., see a Thriller Flash Mob perform in the moonlight.

Trick or treating, the pet parade and costume contest are free of charge. Most of the other activities have a $1 charge, with proceeds to go toward renovation of the San Felipe de Neri church.

Park at any of the Old Town lots, or in the area around the Albuquerque Museum. There is sometimes parking around Tiguex Park. Or take the bus to the Rapid Ride stop at Central and Rio Grande.

Happy Halloween!
