Earth Day comes but once a year, but the mindset stays on. There are many ways to keep Earth Day going throughout the year. Here are some ideas and places to get you started, beginning with Earth Day in Albuquerque. Or find an Earth Day event to attend.

Big Byte Recycling

When: Friday, April 20, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: 123 Central NW
Big Byte has partnered with Gordon Burnell charter school and Enchantment Recycling for a recycling dropoff in celebration of Earth Day. Bring your cardboard, paper, aluminum cans, computers, electronic equipment, such as cell phones and televisions, batteries, handhelds (including PDAs and iPods), cables and wires. TVs require a $10 fee.

E-Cycling Events

When: Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Whole Foods, Carlisle and Indian School
When: Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: Sunflower Market, San Mateo and Academy
When: Sunday, April 22, Noon - 3 p.m.
Where: Coronado Mall, Louisiana
Albuquerque Recycling will be taking your electronic equipment at three locations over the Earth Day weekend.

Enchantment E-Cycling

When: Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: 4121 Prospect NE
Enchantement Recycling will be taking computers, printers, monitors, cellphones, AV equipment and more. Flat screen televisions will be accepted at no charge. CRT televisions will be taken at a charge of $10 each.

Recycle E-Waste

When: Saturday, April 21, 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: Goodwill, 5000 San Mateo NE
The Goodwill and Comcast are holding a free e-waste and television recycling event, accepting items such as TVs, computers, monitors, printers, cellphones, small appliances, VCRs, DVD players, stereo equipment and personal electronics. Comcast will be covering the recycling fees for the televisions, which normally incur a charge.

Recycle Old Cell Phones

When: April 21, 2012
Where: The Zoo or Aquarium/Botanic Garden BioPark Society offices.
If you have any old cell phones that are no longer of any use to you, consider dropping them by the Zoo or Aquarium/Garden administration offices for recycling. Any old cell phones and phone accessories are welcome. Do your part to help keep the landfill cell phone free.

Spring Cleanups in the Foothills

When: April 7, 14, 21 and 28, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Open Space locations in the Sandia Mountain foothills; 4/7 Copper Trailhead, 4/14 Indian School trailhead, 4/21 Menaul trailhead, 4/28 Piedra Lisa Open Space.

Join the city of Albuquerque Open Space Division in a series of four hands-on environmental volunteer projects, and help clean up the Sandia foothills. Each Saturday in April, volunteers will go to differnt foothills parking areas for a variety of projects. Help clean up trash, clear trails and remove grafitti. Prizes will be awarded for the most unusual trash.

There will be free drinks and trail food provided, along with equipment. Bring gloves, water bottle, sturdy shoes and sun protection.
