Bernalillo County Swimming Pools

Albuquerque has a good number of swimming pools, but the county has pools too. Bernalillo County pools are close to town and offer great alternatives on a hot summer day, and the Rio Grande pool is open year round.
If you're not in the mood for swimming but want to cool down, there is the Alameda Spray Park, just one of the fun water and spray parks in the Albuquerque area.

The county aquatic facilities will be open for the 2011 season from Saturday, May 28 to August 15, and weekends only until September 5.

Get free swim passes for the pools while they last.

Large and colorful structures spray kids down and nearby tables offer families and friends a place to relax.

    Indoor Pools

    Rio Grande Pool
    2312 Arenal SW

The Rio Grande pool was recently renovated, with new tiles and a more modern look. The pool offers lap swimming, water aerobics, a summer swim team and swim lessons, as well as open recreational swimming.

    Outdoor Pools

    Los Padillas Aquatic Center
    2141 Los Padillas Road SW
    (505) 873-1156
Los Padillas is well worth a visit. Although there are no grassy areas, there are shade tarps and plenty of picnic tables, and cement areas to lay out your towels. The water play area has a shallow pool that's great for toddlers and babies and kids of all ages enjoy the oversized mushrooms and umbrellas that spout water. There are lots of spray fountains and play features. This pool is handicapped accessible. There is also a 25 foot lap pool that's five feet deep. A water slide completes the fun.

    Paradise Hills Pool
    5901 Paradise Blvd. NW
    (505) 898-0956
The Paradise Hills pool comes highly recommended to me by west side moms. There is a double loop water slide, a baby pool and a 25 yard pool. Moms swear by the clean grassy areas.

    South Valley Pool
    3912 Isleta SW
    (505) 873-6616
The South Valley pool has lots of grass for relaxing, as well as a water slide, baby pool and 25 yard swimming pool.
