The annual New Mexico Bowl takes place at the University of New Mexico's University Stadium in Albuquerque. The very first Gildan Bowl was played December 23, 2006. But the inaugural game didn't take place before Christmas. Just a few days prior to the scheduled game, Albuquerque had six inches of snow. The inaugural game was between the New Mexico Lobos and the San Jose State Spartans; the Spartans defeated the Lobos 20-12.
When is the Gildan New Mexico Bowl?
The seventh annual Gildan Bowl will be played on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. Mountain Time (1 p.m. EST).
Where is the Gildan Bowl played?
The bowl is played at UNM's University Stadium, located at the corner of Cesar Chavez and University Boulevards. The stadium currently has a capacity of 38,634 seats and is a natural grass field. University Stadium is located more than a mile high, at 5100 feet above sea level.
Who is playing in the Gildan Bowl this year?
The Arizona Wildcats (7-5) face the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-5) in 2012. The Wildcats are the first Pac-12 team to play in the Albuquerque bowl. Arizona is seventh in the country for offense, and Nevada is 11th.
Can I watch the game on television?
ESPN, ESPN 3D and ESPN Radio will carry the game nationally.
How can I get tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at the UNM Ticket office, located in The Pit at Cesar Chavez and University Boulevards, or by calling 925-LOBO or 925-5999. They can also be purchased online. If you are unable to purchase tickets, try one of these popular sports bars.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are $25 for endzone seats, $30 for sideline seats, and $40 for premium seats.
Are there other events besides the Bowl that I can participate in?
Everyone can participate in the Pep Rally that takes place Friday, December 14 at 4:15 p.m. at Old Town plaza. You'll see the head coaches, team captains, cheerleaders, band and mascots. At 5:30 p.m., enjoy the fireworks show!
And on Saturday, December 15 beginning at 8 a.m., everyone can participate in the Fanfest at University Stadium. There will be entertainment, food, displays and giveaways. Two stages will feature live entertainment throughout the event. One stage will feature dance, the other music. In the NE corner of the lot, kids can enjoy jumpers, a giant slide and a Batman obstacle course. There will be face painting and spray-on tattoos. Santa Claus will be taking orders and listening to wishes. Bigger kids will enjoy the full sized obstacle course.
