Albuquerque Golf Courses

Albuquerque has four public golf courses and a golf training center. Whatever you're looking for, there is a course in the Albuquerque area that's right for you. Here's a listing of Albuquerque public golf courses to choose from. The city offers annual passes, a golf training center and a junior golf program for kids 17 and under.

Weekday games for 18 holes are $22, weekends the rate is $28.50. Senior rates for those 55 and older are 25% less, and junior rates for those 17 and under are half price. Check with individual courses for nine hole rates and possible afternoon specials.

1. Arroyo del Oso

Arroyo del Oso offers large greens and rolling fairways, sand traps, and three water hole obstacles. It's a great course for the intermediate or advanced player.

The course has 27 holes, the regular 18, and a 9-hole addition. Its primary course measures 6,545 yards with a Par 72 for men, and 6,015 yards at Par 73 for women.

This course has a putting and chipping green and a driving range and a pro shop. The head professional is Tony Hidalgo Jr.

2. Ladera

Ladera Golf Course on the city's Westside features four large lakes, a practice putting green, a large driving range tee, and a large teeing area.

Ladera offers the longest playing yardage of the city's courses, and measures 7,060 yards from the championship tees. The course measures 6,618 from the regulation tees with a Par 72, and 5,966 yards from the women's tee, with a Par 72. There is a 9-hole Executive Course measuring 2,053 yards from the men's tees and 1,852 yards from the women's tees. The 9-hole course challenge level is moderate to advanced.

3. Los Altos

Los Altos opened in 1960, making it the oldest of the city's courses. With 18 holes and a 9-hole par 3 course, this course is designed to satisfy golfers with only a little bit of time as well as those who want the full game. The course was designed with the weekend golfer in mind.

The course is best suited for the beginning to intermediate golfer. It measures 6,180 yards from the men's tees at par 71. It measures 5,895 yards from the women's tees at par 74.

The course has two large lakes, large sand traps and mature trees. It has a putting and chipping green and a driving range. Los Altos features a pro shop, with PGA Pros Ed Moya and Chris Moya on hand.

4. Puerto del Sol

This 9 hole golf course is open year round, features a lighted driving range and has been rated outstanding by the National Golf Foundation. Puerta features wide, tree-lined fairways that are mainly flat. It is well suited for seniors and beginners.

The course measures 3.030 yards from the championship tees and 2,830 yards from regulation tees for a par of 35, and 2,525 yards from the women's tee at a par of 35.

Puerto del Sol has a putting and chipping green. There is a pro shop and a junior golf program, and the golf pros are John Kienle and Todd Kersting.

5. Golf Training Center

One of the simple pleasures is getting outdoors with family or friends to hit a bucket of balls. A great place to hit them is at the city's newest addition, the Golf Training Range, where practicing your drive is made easy. The range has night lighting for your after hours convenience.

Located by the Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum, the training center offers small, medium and large range balls and a 5 hole pitch and putt.
