Guide Review - Marble Brewery Crafts Local Brews

It's been a few years since I lived in Ireland, but the last I was there, the best places to stop in and have a pint featured no nonsense wooden floors, few windows, small tables for gathering with others, and quality beers. Clientele were jovial in conversation but serious about their pints. The Marble Brewery recreates that experience if not in exact detail, at least in overall tones. From the simple wooden plank flooring to the long, functional bar, the space opens its arms to visitors and welcomes them with a wet one worthy of the term brew.

Marble Brewery opened its doors in downtown Albuquerque in April 2008. Since then, it has been refining the art of crafting ales, lagers and beers. And whether by effort or sheer happenstance, it has been converting locals to regulars who stop by the downtown spot for a pint or two. The service is friendly and efficient.

Three of the brewery's beers can be found in six packs at other locations throughout Albuquerque, but there is something magical about stopping by for a glass of draft. Purchase a 64 oz. growler in the re-usable brown bottle and come back to have it refilled with another brew. No matter your taste, they have something for it, and an ongoing selection of specialty beers as well. Start with the flagship India Pale Ale and take it from there.

The brewery is family friendly, and offers kids games and the usual fare of chips, salsa and nachos so they don't get bored. Tables are large enough that everyone can spread out.

Thursday through Sunday (in season) you'll find live music on the patio. Get there early to get a seat, or just enjoy from the sidelines.

Marble Brewery, here's to many more years. I lift my glass to you.
