Although Annapurna's touts itself as a vegetarian cafe, there are quite a few vegan options. This popular eatery ow has two Albuquerque locations and one in Santa Fe. Its emphasis is on ayurvedic cooking, and there are a variety of gluten free menu items.

El Patio is a university neighborhood classic. Their New Mexican menu has a number of vegetarian dishes such as spinach enchiladas and an avacado burritos. Vegans can request dishes without cheese and feel safe that the beans and sauces are not cooked with lard.

Flying Star has a variety of salads and each day they feature a vegetarian soup. There is a commitment to providing vegan options, and they also have gluten free dishes. Try their Mediterranean Nosh, a hummus plate which is simply delish. Desserts are a definite plus. Their Satellite Coffee locations offer some sandwiches and salads which are veg friendly as well. Try the Rabbit Wrap.

Find tasty granolas, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, salads, pastries and a good selection of vegetarian options. For a vegan option, try their wraps or black bean burrito (minus the cheese) or one of their salads. Their vegan veggie tomato soup is a daily staple. Java Joe's has great coffee and teas.

Mint Tulip is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday, with a monthly Sunday brunch. The small sandwich shop offers classics such as frito pie dogs, reubens and burgers. Everything is meatless and dairy free, and special dietary tweaks can be accommodated.

Thai Vegan is my favorite vegan restaurant. You'll be amazed at all the options, and how good everything tastes, from the salads to the house specialties. Mix it up with just appetizers and noodles, or get a combination plate if you've got a large appetite. You can't go wrong with this jewel of a restaurant.
