Nob Hill Shop and Stroll

The first weekend in December brings the annual Nob Hill Shop and Stroll, a holiday blitz of food, entertainment, and of course shopping. Local merchants open their doors with discounts, specials and incentives. Nob Hill is a great place to shop local all year, and for this annual event, shopping moves to a whole other level.

The city of Albuquerque's Twinkle Light Parade takes place during Shop and Stroll. Central Avenue will be closed to traffic from Washington to Girard. The parade begins at 5:15 p.m. at Washington and makes its way to Girard. Watch the parade with its more than 100 floats and stay for the shopping afterward. Entertainment will be on hand, with carolers, mariachi bands and strolling musicians. Get your picture taken with Santa Claus. When:
The 2013 Nob Hill Shop and Stroll takes place Saturday, December 7, from noon to midnight.

Central Avenue will be closed to traffic between Girard and Washington. Take the free trolley, courtesy of Albuquerque Trolley, as you make your way from one end of the hill to the other.

Along with photos with Santa, there will be food trucks located at Morngingside and Central. The mobile eateries will be available as well as other Nob Hill restaurants.

This is one of the most fun parts of the Shop and Stroll. Entertainment takes place up and down the avenue. Here's a sample of what to expect:

  • Carolers
  • Mariachi bands
  • Strolling musicians

A holiday event wouldn't be complete without Santa Claus. He'll be available for photos with the kids at the Nob Hill Center, Central and Carlisle.

Merchants will offer special incentives, so check your favorite Nob Hill shops to find discounts and incentives.

Nob Hill's many restaurants will be open, and offering up some great specials during the Shop and Stroll. Nob Hill has plenty of places to stop in and have a pint as well.

    The Gift of Giving
A food drive benefiting the Storehouse will take your non-perishable goods at the corner of Carlisle and Central. The Salvation Army will be ringing bells for donations, so look for their kettles. And the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico will have its mobile adoption unit at the Stroll.

The Shop and Stroll flyer contains information on discounts, offers and more.
